CITY INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; BUS REROUTE
 

(LAWRENCE, Ks) - On Sunday, traffic control in the 600 block of New
Hampshire will shift.  Eastbound lanes of Sixth Street at Massachusetts
Street will open to through traffic as will southbound lanes in the 600
block of New Hampshire.  Northbound lanes in the 600 block of New
Hampshire will close as will the westbound lanes of Sixth Street east of
Massachusetts Street.

 

Street crews will be working in the following locations in October; Bob
Billings Parkway at Research Park Drive, W. Eighth Street at Chouteau
Court, W. 30th Street at Gill Avenue. At all locations, traffic will be
restricted while crews are working.

 

Sidewalk repairs for October include Wakarusa Drive, north of Sixth
Street and W. Seventh Street at Chouteau Court.

 

Next week, installation of a new waterline along Fair Lane west of Maple
Lane will begin. Local traffic access will be maintained.  A waterline
will also be installed on Wedgewood Drive between 15th Street and Random
Road. In both locations, parking on the street will be restricted near
the construction area.

 

On going city infrastructure improvement projects for the week of Oct.
16 include:
 
Project: Kasold bridge over KTA
Traffic impact:
Kasold, north of Peterson Road, closed to through traffic
 
Project: Kasold Drive reconstruction
Traffic impact:
Kasold Drive, Bob Billings Parkway to W 22nd Street, one lane traffic
each direction
Kasold Drive, at 22nd Street, left turns prohibited for both northbound
and southbound traffic
Kasold Drive, intersections with all side streets, closed from Bob
Billings Parkway to W 22nd Terrace

Project: Barker Court reconstruction, complete

Bob Billings Parkway at Research Park Drive, traffic restricted during
work day

W. Eighth Street at Chouteau Court, traffic restricted during work day

W. 30th Street at Gill Avenue., traffic restricted during work day

 
Project: New Hampshire and Seventh Street intersection rebuild
Traffic impact:
Recommended detour, Ninth Street and Massachusetts

Seventh Street, no impact

New Hampshire, 600 block, northbound lanes closed

Sixth Street, east of Massachusetts Street, westbound lanes closed

 

Project: sanitary sewer pump stations in North Lawrence

Traffic impact:  as work progresses, these impacts may occur

North Street, residence and business access will be maintained

Grant Street, residence and business access will be maintained

Walnut Street, residence and business access will be maintained

 

Parking garage at Sixth and New Hampshire

Some parking spots unavailable

 

Sidewalk repairs

Wakarusa Drive, north of Sixth Street, portions unavailable during
project

W. Seventh Street at Chouteau Court, portions unavailable during project

 

Project: Waterline installation

Fair Lane, west of Maple Lane, parking restricted and local traffic
maintained

Wedgewood Drive, 15th Street to Random Road, parking restricted and
local traffic maintained

 

Bus reroutes

Expected reroute for Route 6 Clockwise during New Hampshire milling and
overlay:

The bus will travel east on 6th to Vermont. Turning south on Vermont,
the bus will use either 7th or 8th to get to New Hampshire. The bus will
turn south on New Hampshire to 9th and back on route.

 

During the reroute, passengers may catch the bus on Vermont between 6th
and 7th or on New Hampshire between 8th and 9th.
