CITY INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
(LAWRENCE, Ks) - No new projects are scheduled to begin next week.
There are no changes in traffic impacts planned for next week.
The week of Nov. 27, crews will install a fire hydrant at the northwest
corner of 31st and Iowa Streets and will work in a portion of the
southbound right turn lane of Iowa Street. Work will be ongoing for
approximately two days, weather permitting and right turns will be
permitted.
Work on the Riverfront Parking Garage will progress the week of Nov. 27
and the ramp between levels may be opened to through traffic, weather
permitting. When the ramp opens, crews will close the New Hampshire
Street entrance for surface repairs. Access to the upper and lower
levels of the garage will be via the Rhode Island Street entrance.
On Dec. 2, a parade will begin at 11:00 at Seventh Street and
Massachusetts and travel south. During the parade, the Lawrence Transit
System will move lay over points to the east and west of Ninth and
Massachusetts Streets. Passengers using the bus in Downtown should move
to either Ninth Street and Vermont or Ninth Street and New Hampshire.
On going city infrastructure improvement projects for the weeks of Nov.
20 and Nov. 27 include:
Project: Kasold bridge over KTA
Traffic impact:
Kasold, north of Peterson Road, closed to through traffic
Project: Kasold Drive reconstruction
Traffic impact:
Kasold Drive, Bob Billings Parkway to W 22nd Street, one lane traffic
each direction
22nd Street east of Kasold Drive, right turns permitted, left turn
prohibited
Kasold Drive, intersections with all side streets, closed from Bob
Billings Parkway to W 22nd Terrace
City street crews
Bob Billings Parkway, Iowa Street to Kasold Avenue, reduced to one lane
in sections during the work day
Project: sanitary sewer pump stations in North Lawrence
Traffic impact: as work progresses, these impacts may occur
North Street, residence and business access will be maintained
Grant Street, residence and business access will be maintained
Walnut Street, residence and business access will be maintained
Project: Waterline installation
Fair Lane, west of Maple Lane, completed
Wedgewood Drive, 15th Street to Random Road, completed
Riverfront parking garage at Sixth and New Hampshire
Ramp between upper and lower level closed
Week of Nov. 27, possible opening of the ramp and closing of New
Hampshire Street entrance
Week of Nov. 27 - fire hydrant installation
31st and Iowa Streets, northwest corner, shortened length of the
southbound right turn lane of Iowa Street while crews work
