Draft Reports Released for Coordinated Public Transportation Development
Plan

Public presentations are scheduled for final reports and recommendations

 

(Lawrence, Ks) - Draft reports are now available showing the findings of
a study on the feasibility of coordination and/or consolidation of
transit services operated by the City of Lawrence and the University of
Kansas. The study was jointly commissioned by the city and the
university. Draft reports can be viewed on the Lawrence Transit System
web site at www.lawrencetransit.org.

 

Over the last six months, the consultant team of Dan Boyle & Associates,
Inc. has been gathering information, meeting with stakeholders, and
studying similar communities and transit systems to complete the study.
Draft report topics include service alternatives and packages of
improvements, transit funding and governing options, and the proposed
transition plan.

 

In addition, other draft reports cover a review of peer universities and
transit systems, onboard survey results for the "T" and for KU on
Wheels, route profiles of both transit systems, and public outreach
activities.

 

As the next step in the process, there are several upcoming meetings
scheduled, where the project team will present its final reports and
recommendations.

 

Public Transit Advisory Committee: Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 4:10 p.m. to
5:30 p.m. at the Lawrence Transit System administrative office, 933 New
Hampshire. This location is served by seven of the Lawrence Transit
System routes.

Public Presentation: Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the
Mallot Room, Kansas Union. This location is served by Route 8 of the
Lawrence Transit System.

City Commission Study Session: Wednesday, Nov. 29th, from 10 a.m. to 11
a.m., City Commission Room, City Hall. This location is served by most
routes of the Lawrence Transit System.

Public Presentation: Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the
City Commission Room, City Hall. This location is served by most routes
of the Lawrence Transit System.
