Detailed maps added to city's website

 

(LAWRENCE, Ks) - You can take a look at where sewer and water lines are,
what a property's plat looks like and where property boundaries are
located, all from your computer.  The city has released an update to its
interactive mapping web feature and all that data and more can be viewed
on a map now online at www.lawrenceks.org <http://www.lawrenceks.org/> .


 

Using information collected in the city's geographical information
system, layers such as city limits, schools, parks, signalized
intersections and historical environs can be viewed, zoomed in on and
turned off. The new web feature pulls together multiple pieces of
information into one system providing visualization of layers of
information in many combinations.  

 

"Visitors to the map feature are encouraged to turn layers on and off,
zoom in and take a look at all the information they can review online,"
said Bryce Hirschman, GIS coordinator for the City of Lawrence.  "People
often call city offices looking for the detailed type of information
that is now on our website and available at all times to the community."
