CITY INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; BUS REROUTES
(LAWRENCE, Ks) - Mill and overlay phase 3 moves on to E 19th Street from
Massachusetts to Rhode Island next week. Parking will be removed and
during work, some lane restrictions will occur.
City crews will resurface the intersection of 22nd Street and Ohio
Street next week closing some lanes during the working day.
Concrete repair will move into the 1000 block of Natalie Drive next
week, restricting traffic to one lane and removing parking. City crews
will also repair concrete on Haskell Avenue at the 23rd Street
intersection closing the eastbound right turn lane during the working
day.
On going City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of July 3
include:
Project: Monterey Way street, storm and water line project
Traffic impacts:
Peterson Road, closed from east of Monterey to Kasold Drive intersection
Peterson Road, closed from Kasold Drive east, detour posted
Kasold Drive, traffic reduced to one lane each direction at Peterson
Road intersection
Project: 6th and Indiana, 17th and Massachusetts Sanitary Sewer
Improvement
Traffic Impacts:
17th Street, closed, New Hampshire to Kentucky, no through traffic
17th Street, Vermont to Massachusetts, construction vehicles parked
Intersections at 13th and Massachusetts through 17th and Massachusetts,
closed on the west side
17th Street, at Massachusetts intersection, closed
Massachusetts, 13 th Street to 17th Street, traffic reduced to one lane
each direction
13th Street, New Hampshire to Connecticut, closed
Vermont Street, 16th Street to 18th Street, closed to through traffic
14th Street, Massachusetts to New Hampshire, closed
Kentucky, 18th Street to 17th Street, east lane closed
Project: Vermont St. and Kansas St. waterline, project complete

Private Project: Storm sewer and street private project
Traffic impact:
Iowa, south of 34th St. to 33rd St., traffic control has been removed
33rd St., east of Iowa, curb and sidewalk construction continues on the
street, expect delays and lane closures

Traffic impact:
Kasold, north of Peterson Road, closed to through traffic

Bel-Air Court from cul-de-sac to Inverness Drive, parking removed and
some lane restrictions
Hawthorne Drive from Clinton Parkway to Lowell Drive, parking removed
and some lane restrictions
Inverness Drive from Wakarusa Drive to Bob Billings Parkway, parking
removed and some lane restrictions
Lowell Drive from Clinton Parkway frontage rod to Hawthorne Drive,
parking removed and some lane restrictions
Murrow Court from W. 9th Street to Yale Road, parking removed and some
lane restrictions
N. 7th Street from Walnut Street to Lake Street, parking removed and
some lane restrictions
Riverview Road from Settlers Drive to Kasold Drive, parking removed and
some lane restrictions
Riverview Road east bulb to the cul-de-sac, parking removed and some
lane restrictions
Rockfence Place from Longhorn Drive to Riverview Road, parking removed
and some lane restrictions
Royal Birkdale Court from Inverness Drive to cul-de-sac, parking removed

W. 11th Street from Mississippi Street to West Campus Drive, completed

Wagon Wheel Road from Longhorn Drive to Riverview Road, parking removed

Winged Foot Court from Inverness Drive to the cul-de-sac, parking
removed and some lane restrictions

Bob Billings Parkway, Inverness to Wakarusa both directions, completed
21st Street, Louisiana to Tennessee, closed to through traffic
Cambridge Road from High Drive to Sunset Drive, parking removed and some
lane restrictions
Flint Drive from W 26th Street to Atchison Avenue, parking removed and
some lane restrictions
Tennessee Street from W 19th Street to W 23rd Street, parking removed
and some lane restrictions
W 14th Street from Massachusetts Street to Kentucky Street, parking
removed and some lane restrictions
W 27th Street from Iowa Street to Lawrence Avenue, parking removed and
some lane restrictions
Clinton Parkway frontage road from Hawthorne Drive to Crossgate Drive,
parking removed and some lane restrictions
Project: Kasold Drive reconstruction
Kasold Drive, Bob Billings Parkway to W 22nd Terrace, traffic restricted
to one lane each direction
Kasold Drive, at 22nd Street, left turns prohibited for both northbound
and southbound traffic
Project: Downtown waterline replacement
Massachusetts, 700 and 800 blocks, traffic restricted to south bound
only, no parking on east side, pedestrian access maintained
Project: Concrete repair
Traffic impact:
Natalie Drive, 1100 block, work completed
Natalie Drive, 1000 block, traffic will be restricted to one lane and
parking removed
Haskell Avenue, at 23rd Street intersection, eastbound right turn lane
closed during working day
Project: City crews resurfacing

Ohio Street, 2100 block, completed
22nd Street and Ohio Street intersection lane closures during the
working day
Project: Phase 3
Green Way Circle, East Hills Drive to Noria Road, parking removed and
some lane restrictions
E 19th Street, Massachusetts to Rhode Island, parking removed and some
lane restrictions
Project: KLINK
23rd Street, Harper Street to east city limits, some lane restrictions
Project: Aquila service line installation
Sixth Street, between City Hall and the Riverfront Parking Garage,
westbound traffic reduced to one lane
Pedestrian access, restricted on Sixth Street, between City Hall and the
Riverfront Parking Garage
Bus reroutes
While 33rd Street is closed, Transit Routes 7 and 8 are not serving 31st
Street or 33rd Street, east of Iowa.
Passengers wishing to catch Route 7 southbound between 13th and 18th
along Massachusetts will need to move north to the South Park stop or
south to the Dairy Queen stop.
While 21st Street is closed from Louisiana to Tennessee, passengers
wishing to catch Route 7 northbound will either need to catch it on the
east side of Louisiana before 20th Street, or on the south side of 20th
Street between Louisiana and Tennessee Streets.
Due to paving on N 7th Street in North Lawrence, Route 4 will be using N
8th Street temporarily. Work is expected to continue for several days,
weather permitting. Passengers wishing to catch the bus on N 7th Street
will either need to move to Locust Street, Lyon Street, or N 8th Street.
