Eco machines topic of public presentation

(LAWRENCE, Ks) - A public presentation covering the opportunities to use eco machines for wastewater treatment will be held on March 1.  The community can learn about eco machines during a presentation by Johnathan Todd of John Todd Ecological Design, a firm developing ecological technologies for food production, waste purification and conversion, environmental restoration and systems integration for architecture and eco-industrial parks. 

Eco machines use solar input in a greenhouse setting to conduct the clarifying process.  Eco machines contain wetland ecosystems of plants, amphibians, snails, fish and bacteria to treat wastewater.

The public is invited to the eco machine presentation on Wednesday, March 1 at 3p.m. in the City Commission Room of City Hall, 6 East Sixth Street.  There will be a question and answer session following the presentation.   At the conclusion of the presentation and questions, a peer review group (a panel with experience in wastewater regulations, construction and engineering) will discuss the applicability of eco machines to wastewater treatment for Lawrence, including  compatibility with existing treatment and collection systems.
