MAKING NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS EASY AND FUN WITH PARKS AND RECREATION
LAWRENCE - Each year millions of Americans vow to start the new year off
right by getting into better shape. However, the tasks and stresses of
busy lifestyles, resolutions are easy lost or gradually pushed aside
until the next new year rolls around.
Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department is here to help. With a wide
variety of fitness classes, individuals can find a class that fits into
any busy schedule, assisting in keeping an annual resolution.
The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center offers a wide variety of water
fitness classes ranging from Jivin' Joints to Aqua Abs. Aqua Abs is for
individuals 16 years old and older and focuses on abdominal
strengthening, which leads to a stronger core resulting in less back
injuries, while Jivin' Joints is a class specializing in arthritis and
arthritis related conditions. All aquatic exercise has proven to
increase flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. Other classes
offered by the aquatics division include Water Aerobics, Water Walking
and Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. Check out times and dates for

Parks and Recreation's Recreation Instruction Division also has a wide
variety of classes to help individuals stick to new year's resolutions.
New this year, Parks and Recreation is offering Jazz It Up, a
combination of toning and cardio using jazz and ballet techniques. Also
offered is Kickboxing, which provides a strenuous total body workout and
Dance Fitness, which uses fast-paced dance exercises to provide a
full-body workout.
Parks and Recreation offers Yoga, Pilates and Yogilates among many other
classes for individuals looking to get in shape in the new year. Dates
and times of these classes can also be found in the 2007 Winter/Spring

offered by Parks and Recreation, visit the department's website,
