NATURE CENTER GIFT SHOP OFFERS GREAT HOLIDAY GIFTS
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Prairie Park
Nature Center offers a wide variety of items in its gift shop that would
make great holiday gifts.

The gift shop has stuffed animals, t-shirts, collectable rocks, fossils,
jewelry and an assortment of books.

While at the nature center, visitors should check out the many exhibits
offered. The nature center has a Birds of Prey collection, which
includes golden and bald eagles. 

Prairie Park Nature Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. and from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. It is closed on Mondays.

YOUTH INDOOR SOCCER (FUTSAL) LEAGUE REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED
LAWRENCE - Registration for the Lawrence Parks and Recreation
Department, Youth Sports Division's Indoor Soccer (Futsal) League is
ongoing. Deadline for registering is Thursday, Jan. 4.

The league is open to boys and girls kindergarten through 6th grade, and
runs from Feb. 3 through March 10. The registration fee for youth indoor
soccer is $35 for youth in Kindergarten through 4th grade, and $45 for
5th and 6th graders. A late fee of $15 is assessed after Jan. 4.  

The indoor soccer league is aimed at providing an opportunity for
children to play soccer in an organized and competitive, recreational
setting during the school year. Youth will learn basic skills and
fundamentals of soccer, as well as fair play, teamwork and
sportsmanship. 

Practice begins in late January.
