CITY INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
 

(LAWRENCE, Ks) - The reconstruction of Kasold Drive from Peterson Road
to the KTA Bridge will begin next week.  Work will close Kasold Drive
north of Peterson Road while the intersection of Kasold Drive and
Peterson Road will remain open to the south, east and west.  Residents
west of Kasold Drive should use Grand Vista, Monterey Way, or Peterson
Road during construction. Residents east of Kasold Drive should use
Peterson Road. Residents in the Calvin Drive-Huntington Road area will
be allowed to cross Kasold Drive and use Grand Vista Drive for access.
This project is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2007, weather
permitting.

 

Next week, city crews will make street repairs in the 1500 block of East
23rd Street.  Work will restrict westbound traffic to one lane through
December 13, weather permitting.

 

On going city infrastructure improvement projects for the weeks of Dec.
11 include:
 
Project: Kasold bridge over KTA
Traffic impact:
Kasold, north of Peterson Road, closed to through traffic
 
Project: Kasold Drive reconstruction
Traffic impact:
Kasold Drive, Bob Billings Parkway to W 22nd Street, one lane traffic
each direction
22nd Street east of Kasold Drive, right turns permitted, left turn
prohibited
Kasold Drive, intersections with all side streets, closed from Bob
Billings Parkway to W 22nd Terrace

Bob Billings Parkway, Iowa Street to Kasold Avenue, completed

1500 block of East 23rd Street, westbound traffic reduced to one lane

 

Project: sanitary sewer pump stations in North Lawrence

Traffic impact:  as work progresses, these impacts may occur

North Street, residence and business access will be maintained

Grant Street, residence and business access will be maintained

Walnut Street, residence and business access will be maintained

 

Riverfront parking garage at Sixth and New Hampshire

Ramp between upper and lower level closed, expected to remain closed
through approximately Dec. 22

Week of Dec. 26 possible opening of the ramp and closing of New
Hampshire Street entrance

 

Project: Fire hydrant installation

31st and Iowa Streets, completed

 

Project: Kasold Drive reconstruction north of Peterson

Kasold Drive, Peterson Road to the KTA Bridge, closed to through traffic

Kasold Drive and intersection with Peterson Road, closed north of
Peterson Road except for traffic to the Calvin Drive-Huntington Road
