CITY INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS; BUS REROUTES

 

(LAWRENCE, Ks) - Next week contractors will begin phase one of this
year's mill and overlay program.  Crews will begin work on Maverick Lane
from E. 27th Terrace to E. 28th Terrace; 25th Street from Crestwood to
Ridge Court and W. 24th Street from east of Ridge Court to Iowa Street.

 

On going City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of May 1
include:

 

Project: Monterey Way street, storm and water line project

Traffic impacts:

Monterey Way, Stetson Drive to Grand Vista, closed to through traffic

Peterson Road, west of Kasold closed to through traffic

 

Project: 6th and Indiana, 17th and Massachusetts Sanitary Sewer
Improvement 

Traffic Impacts:

Fifth Street, Mississippi to Indiana, closed for manhole installation.

17th Street, closed, Vermont and Kentucky, no through traffic

17th Street, Vermont and Massachusetts, construction vehicles parked

 

Project: Vermont St. and Kansas St. waterline

Traffic Impact:

Kansas Street, Nebraska to Ohio, local traffic only

 

Private Project: Storm sewer and street private project

Traffic impact:

Iowa, south of 34th St. to 33rd St., lane drops during milling

33rd St., east of second entrance to Pineridge Plaza to end of 33rd St.,
closed to through traffic

 

Project: Sixth St. widening

Traffic impact:

Sixth St., Folks Rd. to SLT, occasional lane closures during the work
day

 

Project: Kasold bridge over KTA

Traffic impact:

Kasold, north of Peterson Road, closed to through traffic

 

Project: Sixth Street storm sewer repair

Traffic impact:

Sixth Street, at Frontier, westbound traffic reduced to one lane

 

Project: Mill and Overlay Phase 1

Traffic impact:

Maverick Lane, E. 27th Terrace to E. 28th Terrace, some parking removed

25th Street, Crestwood to Ridge Court, some parking removed

W. 24th Street, east of Ridge Court to Iowa Street, some parking removed

 

Bus reroutes

While 33rd Street is closed, Transit Routes 7 and 8 are not serving 31st
Street or 33rd Street, east of Iowa.

 

Construction at Jayhawk Blvd. and 13th St. will reroute Route
8.Passengers wishing to catch northbound Route 8 between the hours of
6:30 pm and 8:00 pm, and 6:00 am to 7:00 am, will need to catch the bus
on the south side of Jayhawk Blvd. just before 14th Street near the
Danforth Chapel.
