High School Homecoming Parades Reroute the "T"

Lawrence and Free State high schools' fall homecoming parades will reroute "T" bus routes Route 6 Clockwise and Counter-Clockwise and Route 7 on Friday, Sept. 30 beginning at 2:00 pm. The reroutes will be in effect for approximately an hour.

The Free State procession will begin just south of Bob Billings Parkway and Wakarusa and proceed north on Wakarusa to the school. Route 6 Clockwise and Counter-Clockwise will not be able to use Wakarusa during this time. Lawrence Transit System will use Monterey Way to complete the routes. Passengers who normally catch the bus between Monterey Way and Wakarusa are advised to catch the bus along Monterey Way during the reroute. Road supervisors will check the missed portion of the route for any missed passengers.

Lawrence High School's parade will begin at 11th and Massachusetts streets and head south on Massachusetts to 19th Street, where it will turn west to the LHS parking lot. The LHS parade will include a stop at 17th and Massachusetts, during which the band will perform for residents at Babcock Place. Route 7 will not layover at the 9th and Mass transfer location. Passengers are advised to catch the Route 7 at the downtown transfer location or along Connecticut to 19th Street where the bus will go back on route.

Wakarusa Construction Reroutes Route 6

Work on the intersection of Wakarusa Drive and Sixth Street south of Sixth Street puts traffic on Wakarusa Drive in the northbound lanes, providing one lane in each direction. Route 6 Clockwise will use a reroute during the lane restriction.

There will be no service on 6th Street between Wakarusa Drive and Folks Road. Passengers needing to board in the area will need to move to Overland Drive and Folks or on 6th Street east of Folks or on the eastside of Wakarusa Drive. Passengers boarding Route 6 Clockwise on the eastside of Wakarusa Drive are advised to board the bus at the most southern service drive into the shopping center due to construction closing the bus shelter.

Construction work on New Jersey Street reroutes the "T"

Construction on New Jersey Street between 13th and 14th Streets has rerouted Route 2. Bus riders are advised to catch the bus along Connecticut between 9th and 15th Streets. The bus will go back on route at Barker Street.

Transit drivers can provide detailed information about the reroutes to riders. For more detailed information on routes and schedules, phone (785) 312-7054 or visit www.lawrencetransit.org.
