TODDLER OPEN GYM MOVES TO COMMUNITY BUILDING
LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Toddler Open Gym has a new home this fall.  It is now being held in the Community Building, Community Room 3, 115 W. 11th St.  

The Toddler Open Gym, is open for children ages 6 and under. It provides an open space for children to be active. It was formerly housed at the East Lawrence Recreation Center.

Toddler Open Gym meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon through December. The fee is $1 per child to participate.  No pre-registration is required.

ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL DEADLINE TOMORROW
LAWRENCE - The registration deadline for the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, Youth Sports' elementary basketball league is Wednesday, Sept. 21.  The league is open to boys and girls kindergarten through 6th grade, and runs from Nov. 5 to Dec. 17.

The registration fee for Elementary Basketball is $35 for youth Kindergarten through 4th grade, and $45 for 5th and 6th graders.  After Sept. 21, there is a $15 late registration fee.

The elementary basketball league is aimed at providing an opportunity for children to play basketball in an organized and competitive, but still recreational setting during the school year.  Youth will learn basic skills and fundamentals of basketball, as well as fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship. 

Practice begins in October.
 
Registration for the league can be done online at www.lprd.org <http://www.lprd.org>  or by visiting any Parks and Recreation facility including: the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative Offices, 947 New Hampshire St. or South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St.
