 FTA Presents Award of Excellence to Lawrence Transit System

 

(Lawrence, Ks) - The Lawrence Transit System received an Award of Excellence from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) during the Kansas Public Transit Association's annual conference this week in Topeka.  The Award of Excellence was presented to Cliff Galante, Public Transit Administrator and Wendy Koerner, Public Transit Clerk by Mokhtee Ahmad, FTA Region 7 Regional Administrator for the Highest Percentage Increase in Ridership for the entire Kansas Urban Transit Program 2003-2004.  The annual ridership growth in 2003 increased by 14.1% while the annual ridership growth in 2004 increased by 22.4%.
 
FTA is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation functioning through a Washington DC headquarters office and ten regional offices which assist transit agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and American Samoa.
