Lawrence Transit System provides over 41,000 rides in October
(Lawrence, KS) - "T" ridership continues to increase. Together the "T" fixed route service and T Lift paratransit service transported 41, 242 riders for October.
The October ridership report states that the "T" fixed route has expanded by 6, 838 rides, an average of 1, 408 rides a day, or a 22 percent increase compared to October 2004. The "T" had two days with ridership of 1, 657 rides given to passengers in one day. The expansion in ridership is met with an on time performance of 99.11 percent an improvement from 98.84 percent in October of 2004. The passenger per revenue hour for October 2005 has increased compared to October 2004. A revenue hour is when a transit vehicle is available to the general public and there is an expectation of carrying passengers. The passenger per revenue hour is up to 10.11 from 8.21 in October of 2004.
"It's great to see the "T" ridership growing"," Cliff Galante, public transit administrator states "It shows that while gas prices might have been an incentive that got some people on the bus some individuals have decided to fit it into their traveling routine."
The Lawrence Transit System travels throughout the community to businesses, educational institutions and employment areas. For assistance with trip planning call 312-7054 or visit www.lawrencetransit.org <http://www.lawrencetransit.org/> to see a route map and timetable.
