City Manager of Lawrence receives Buford M. Watson Jr. Award for Excellence in Public Management

The Kansas Association of City/County Management presented Lawrence City manager, Mike Wildgen, the Buford M. Watson Jr. Award for Excellence in Public Management at the 2005 Fall Conference on Nov. 10 in Overland Park, Ks.

The Award was established in 1988 to recognize professional local government managers who have demonstrated continued excellence within the profession of public management in Kansas. The award is held as the highest honor bestowed by the Kansas Association of City/County Management. The award was named in honor of long time Lawrence city manager, Buford M. Watson Jr. 

Kansas Association of City/County Management President Kent Hixson and past recipients of the award will host a recognition ceremony during the Lawrence City Commission's regular meeting on December 13 at 6:35p.m. at City Hall.
