Use the "T" as an option for holiday transportation

(Lawrence, KS) - Lawrence Transit System would like holiday shoppers and citizens to join in its 5th anniversary celebration of providing safe, reliable public transportation to the community by using the "T" this holiday season. When the family has holiday shopping and activities all over town, the "T" is the perfect solution for getting everyone where they need to go. "T" buses provide access to several retail establishments located throughout the city including Downtown and South Iowa shopping. The "T" also provides a great way to access holiday events such as Lawrence's Holiday Celebration and Santa's Arrival, the Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade, Lawrence Arts Center Activities and Holiday Bazaars.

The "T" operates eight fixed routes that board passengers at designated stops along the route. Transit patrons need only to stand by a bus sign or shelter and wait for the bus to stop. The bus will stop at the nearest safe location for boarding. This more flexible system means that riders have more access and get to their destination in a timelier manner.

"We want to remind citizens that the "T" is your public transit system. Using the "T" during the holiday season makes sense, there's no worrying about traffic, parking or winter weather," explains Cliff Galante, public transit administrator.
