Yard Trimmings Collection Season Ends


 

(Lawrence, Kansas) - Monday, December 19th will be the last day of separate grass, leaf and small brush curbside collection in Lawrence this season.  This separate collection has diverted over 8,500 tons of yard trimmings from the landfill this year, creating compost for City and community use.  

 

After Monday, unwanted yard trimmings may be set out for regular trash day, wherein they will be taken to the landfill.  During this time, yard materials may be placed in any container accepted for regular household trash.  When separate collection of yard trimmings resumes on Monday, March 6, 2006 (weather permitting), cans, carts and compostable bags will once again be the necessary containers for yard trimmings.
