Stuff a "T" Bus holiday toy and canned food collection
(Lawrence, KS) - The Lawrence Transit System has partnered with 105.9 the Lazer and the Salvation Army to provide a "T" Bus to be stuffed with toys and canned goods. The Stuff the Bus program is an opportunity for citizens and supporters to share in Lawrence Transit System's 5th anniversary and support the needy within our community. 105.9 the Lazer and a "T" will be at various locations throughout the week for community members to bring by donations.
"Transit staff wanted to show our appreciation by giving back to the community" stated Cliff Galante, Public Transit Administrator "Stuff a "T" Bus was a way we could do that. It's our hope community members bring a toy or canned goods to our events this week."

Wed., Dec. 14 UNO Chicago Grill 4 pm
Thurs., Dec. 15 Lawrence Arts Center 5 pm
Fri., Dec. 16 Russell Stover Candies 4 pm
Sat., Dec. 17 Hy-Vee 6th St. 10 am
Donations will go to the Salvation Army

Celebrate Lawrence Transit System's 5th anniversary at the Arts Center
(Lawrence, KS) - Lawrence Transit System will celebrate its 5th anniversary of providing safe, reliable and friendly public transportation on Friday, December 16, 2005. An anniversary reception will be held at the Lawrence Arts Center on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 5 pm to celebrate. 105.9 the Lazer and the "T" stuff the bus will be available for toy and canned good collection. A presentation will be made at 6:00 pm where the 5th anniversary ridership appreciation t-shirt will be unveiled.
The 5th anniversary is an opportunity for citizens and supporters to share in the celebration of system's milestones and importance of public transportation in the community. Citizens and supporters are encouraged to come and bring a toy or canned good for the stuff the bus collection.
In 5 years serving the community, Lawrence Transit System has provided over 1.5 million rides, traveled over 3 million miles and received multiple "Awards of Excellence" from the Federal Transit Administration. For more information visit www.lawrencetransit.org <http://www.lawrencetransit.org/> .
Celebrate 5th anniversary by riding the "T" for free
(Lawrence, KS) - The Lawrence Transit System will provide free rides to celebrate its 5th anniversary on Friday, December 16, 2005. The 5th anniversary is an opportunity for citizens and supporters to share in the celebration of system's milestones and importance of public transportation in the community by riding the "T".
Citizens and supporters that have not had the chance to ride the "T" fixed route buses are encouraged to experience the safe, reliable and award wining transit system. Lawrence Transit System reminds holiday shoppers and citizens to use the "T" during our free ridership day for holiday shopping and activities. The "T" provides access to several retail establishments located throughout the city including Downtown and South Iowa shopping.
"The free ridership day highlights how the "T" can get people around town with ease" commented Cliff Galante, Public Transit Administrator "It's a time to try transit out on us."
The "T" fixed route buses operate from 6 am to 8 pm daily with the exception of Sunday. First time riders will find that transit drivers are an excellent resource for information. Drivers can help with transfers and explanation of timing points.
