Lawrence Transit System celebrates fifth anniversary

 

Lawrence Transit System will celebrate its 5th anniversary of providing safe, reliable and friendly public transportation on Friday, December 16, 2005.  

In 5 years serving the community, Lawrence Transit System has provided 1,533,827 rides to passengers, traveled approximately 3,074,761 miles, achieved a system high ridership of 2,110 rides to passengers in one day and received multiple "Awards of Excellence" from the Federal Transit Administration.

 

The 5th anniversary is an opportunity for citizens and supporters to share in the celebration of system's milestones and importance of public transportation in the community.  Lawrence Transit System's 5th anniversary celebration includes:

 

            * 5th Anniversary Reception

            Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005 at 5:00 pm

            Lawrence Arts Center

            Free food, beverages and a sneak peak at the rider appreciation t-shirt 

 

            * "Stuff the Bus" Holiday Toy and Canned Food Collection:

            Wed., Dec. 14 UNO Chicago Grill 4 pm

            Thurs., Dec. 15 Lawrence Arts Center 5 pm

            Fri., Dec. 16 Russell Stover Candies 4 pm

            Sat., Dec. 17 Hy-Vee 6th St. 10 am

            Donations will go to the Salvation Army

 

            * Free Ridership Day Dec. 16, 2005
