YOUTH INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE REGISTRATION BEGINS MONDAY
LAWRENCE - Registration for Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department, Youth Sports Division's indoor soccer league begins Monday, Dec. 5. The league is open to boys and girls kindergarten through 6th grade, and runs from Feb. 4 through March 11.

The registration fee for youth indoor soccer is $35 for youth in Kindergarten through 4th grade, and $45 for 5th and 6th graders.  The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Jan. 4.

The indoor soccer league is aimed at providing an opportunity for children to play soccer in an organized and competitive, recreational setting during the school year. Youth will learn basic skills and fundamentals of soccer, as well as fair play, teamwork and sportsmanship. 

Practice begins in late January.

Registration for the league can be done online at www.lprd.org <http://www.lprd.org>  or by visiting any Parks and Recreation facility including: the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive; Prairie Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative Offices, 947 New Hampshire St. or South Park Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St.

INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO HOST AQUAHAWKS SWIM MEET
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Indoor Aquatic Center will host the Lawrence Aquahawks Level II Championships swim meet this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-4. 

The meet will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. There will be no cost to watch the competition. 

There will still be lanes available for public lap swimming in the competition pool from 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 5:45 p.m. on Sunday. In addition, there will be lanes available for warm water lap swimming in the leisure pool from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. The diving well will be closed for the weekend.

The Zero-Depth and Children's Area in the leisure pool will still hold its regular hours: Saturday, 1 to 7:45 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5:45 p.m.
