City calling area aviators
(LAWRENCE, KS) - The Aviation Advisory Board is seeking public comment on
proposed Minimum Standards and Requirements for Airport Aeronautical
Services for the Lawrence Municipal Airport. These minimum standards set
the stage for the development of aviation and related aeronautical
activities at the airport. The minimum standards are a tool that will help
the city plan, manage, operate and finance the Lawrence Municipal Airport
for the long term financial health and safety of the airport.
Among the eighteen minimums set with the standards are approved activities,
property leasing, facility construction and maintenance, insurance and
environmental compliance. Aviation activities such as the fixed based
operator, aircraft repair, flying clubs, charter services and pilot training
businesses are all addressed in the standards.
Public comment will be accepted at the board's Wednesday, Sept. 29 meeting
at 6:30 p.m. in the airport terminal, 1930 Airport Rd. The minimum
standards document can be found on line at www.lawrenceks.org.
Individuals unable to attend the meeting on Sept. 29 can submit written
comment to Debbie Van Saun, Assistant City Manager, PO Box 708, Lawrence, KS
66044 or email at dvansaun at ci.lawrence.ks.us. Comments should be received
by October 1.
