"T" partners with Lawrence ArtWalk
(Lawrence, KS) - The Lawrence Transit System will provide free rides to ease
travel to the 10th annual Lawrence ArtWalk Saturday, Oct. 23. The Lawrence
Transit System and the Lawrence ArtWalk have partnered to provide an
alternative means of transportation to the 10th annual self-guided tour of
Lawrence artists' studios. Individuals riding the "T" on Saturday will
experience two benefits of public transportation, avoiding traffic and no
parking concerns when visiting artists' studios downtown and throughout the
city.
"The Lawrence ArtWalk is one of Lawrence's premier art events and we are
happy to support our community the way they have supported us" commented
Karin Rexroad, Public Transit Administrator. "This event highlights how the
"T" can get people where they need to go throughout the city without having
to worry about traffic or parking".
Transit routes travel throughout the community and with a short walk, most
people can go from their neighborhood to their destination using the "T".
The benefit of public transportation is its dependability. Once people try
the "T", they find times when they are in need of transportation and can
turn to the "T" fixed route system.
First time riders will find that transit drivers are an excellent resource
for information. Drivers can help with transfers and explain timing points.
For assistance with trip planning call 312-7054 or visit
www.lawrencetransit.org to see a route map and timetable.
The 10th anniversary of the Lawrence ArtWalk will showcase a preview
exhibition of participating artists and an expanded guidebook. Guidebooks
and guide maps are available at Ad Astra Eclectica Galleria. For more
information regarding the plans for the 10th Annual ArtWalk visit
www.lawrenceartwalk.org or call 865-4254.
Free ridership on Saturday, Oct. 23, will not be limited to riders taking
the "T" for the ArtWalk. The fare on all eight fixed routes including the
seven routes that go to the downtown hub will be waived.
