Lawrence Arts Commission Sesquicentennial Percent for Art Project finalist
on display
(LAWRENCE, KANSAS) - The art selection committee from the Sesquicentennial
Percent for Art Project has placed the Percent for Art finalist art model
for the Grassy Verge site on display at the Lawrence Public Library. The
display will be located on the main level of the Lawrence Public Library
from Monday, Oct. 11 through Monday, Oct. 25. The art selection committee
has chosen the finalist Stephen Johnson for the project. The finalist was
selected from forty-three submissions. The committee will forward its
recommendation to the Lawrence Arts Commission for its Nov, 10 meeting at
City Hall at 6:30 pm. This item will be on the City Commission agenda on
Tuesday, Nov. 16.
The art piece and work by the Lawrence Art Commission are financed by the
city's Percent for Art program. Capital improvement monies are set aside for
art projects in city building construction and renovations. The local arts
commission is responsible for choosing the art and artist for each project.
