City opens brush recycling center for the week
(LAWRENCE, KS) - Opening tomorrow, the city's brush recycling center will
accept tree branches and limbs brought down during last week's snow fall.
To assist the community with clean up, there will not be a cost to drop off
limbs and branches.
The brush recycling center will be open the following dates and times;
Tuesday, Nov. 30 through Friday, Dec. 3, 8a.m. to 3p.m. and Saturday, Dec.
4, 8a.m. to 4p.m. Lawrence residents can self-haul woody materials to the
center at 1420 E. 11th Street, just east of 11th and Haskell Avenue.
It is important that only tree debris be brought to the site. The materials
must be free of trash and lumber will not be accepted. The extended center
hours are for residential use only and commercial use is excluded.
The special five day recycling opportunity is an extension of the city's
seasonal woody debris drop off program that runs mid-April through
mid-November.
Residents who do not wish to bring limbs to the brush recycling center can
trim materials to a maximum length of 5 feet, secure into bundles not more
than 18 inches in diameter or 65 pounds and place at the curb on the regular
trash day to be taken to the landfill.
