WINTER ON THE PRAIRIE TO BE HELD AT PRAIRIE PARK NATURE CENTER
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Prairie Park Nature
Center along with the University of Kansas Natural History Museum will hold
Winter on the Prairie, Sunday, Nov. 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Prairie Park
Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.
This special event will feature programs and activities regarding how
animals survive winter on the prairie.
Activities include: investigating the insulating quality of fur; owl pellet
dissection; winter bird feeding; winter tracks and how animals acclimate to
cold temperatures.
Winter on the Prairie will also feature two programs with live animals
scheduled for 1:30 and 3 p.m.

LAWRENCE INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO OFFER DROP-IN AEROBIC CLASSES
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division will
hold drop-in water fitness classes between Monday, Nov. 22 and Friday, Dec.
3.
Water walking and water aerobics classes will be open to the public at the
Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive and Carl Knox Natatorium, located
on the campus of Lawrence High School, 1901 Louisiana St.
Individuals interested in attending are required to pay regular daily
admission at the aquatic centers and be at least sixteen years of age.
Pre-registration is not required. Space is limited in each class and will
be available on a first come, first serve basis.
The following is a list of classes available to the public:
Monday, Nov. 22; Monday, Nov. 29; Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 3
Dawn Patrol 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the Indoor Aquatic Center
Monday, Nov. 22; Monday, Nov. 29; Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 3
Aqua Abs 7:30 to 8 a.m. at the Indoor Aquatic Center
Monday, Nov. 22; Monday, Nov. 29; Wednesday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 3
Shallow Shakers 8:15 to 9 a.m. at the Indoor Aquatic Center
Tuesday, Nov. 23; Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 2
Water Warriors 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the Indoor Aquatic Center
Tuesday, Nov. 23; Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 2
Wet 'n' Wild 6:30-7:30 a.m. at Carl Knox Natatorium
Tuesday, Nov. 23; Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 2
TNT 6:45-7:45 p.m. at the Indoor Aquatic Center
Water aerobics are generally performed in water that is no deeper than chest
level. As with any exercise program, Lawrence Parks and Recreation
encourages interested individuals to talk to their healthcare professional
or physician prior to taking part in an exercise class.
Daily admission is $3.75 for adults 18-59 years old and $2.50 for teenagers
and senior citizens.
