PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT ON PARK AREA NEAR LANGSTON HUGHES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department and the West Lawrence
Neighborhood Association will hold public meetings to collect input for the
development of a future park. The park to be developed is the green belt
area north of 15th St. and George Williams Way and east of Langston Hughes
Elementary School.

The first meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m. at Langston Hughes
Elementary School, 1101 George Williams Way.  C.L. Mauer, of Landplan
Engineering, and members of the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department
will be on hand to gather input from the public about what type of
facilities and features they would like to see developed in the future park.

A follow up meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. at Langston
Hughes Elementary School to display some preliminary schematic drawings and
ideas for the public to consider for the future park.

The public is invited to attend both meetings and all information collected
will assist in the development of a master plan for the park.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR WILL FEATURE CRAFTS OF THE SEASON
LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will host the 28th
annual Holiday Bazaar Sunday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the
Community Building, 115 West 11th St. The admission is free and the public
is invited to attend.

The Holiday Bazaar features homemade art and handcrafts produced by local
and regional artists on display and for sale.  There are over 90 exhibitors
registered for the annual bazaar.

Sounds of the season will also fill the air with music performances by local
groups, including:

12 -1 p.m.  	Central Junior High Honor Ensemble Choir 
1 - 2 p.m.	Plymouth Congressional Church Festival Bell Choir
3- 4 p.m.	Lawrence High School Orchestra

The Holiday Bazaar was previously run by Doreta Boyd. This is the third year
the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has organized the event.
