INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER NAMED BEST IN AQUATICS
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has garnered another
award for its Aquatic Division. 

The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, has been awarded
the Best of Aquatics, Class Three Award for Best Public/ Non-Profit Indoor
Family Aquatic Center with annual attendance between 100,000 and 200,000 by
Aquatics International, a magazine devoted to the commercial and public
swimming pool industries.

In recognizing the Indoor Aquatic Center, judges stated "this is one
community that's made a commitment to aquatics - impressive."

Judges also stated that the department's community outreach is a model for
other facilities and that the adapted aquatic programs are strong.

The Indoor Aquatic Center is currently being featured in the
November/December edition of Aquatics International magazine.

Application for the award consisted of a review of programs and services,
the diversity of programs and services and overall operation.

Earlier in the year, Lawrence Parks and Recreation was awarded the 2004
National Excellence in Aquatics Award by the National Recreation and Park
Association.
