City infrastructure improvement projects and transit reroutes

(LAWRENCE, KS) - No new projects are scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 8.

Working days assessed for on going city infrastructure projects are as of
Oct. 30.  On going city infrastructure improvement projects and transit
system reroutes for the week of Nov. 6 include:

Project:  Downtown water line installation
120 working days on the contract, project began May 3, 107 working days
assessed and 13 working days remaining 
Original estimated completion date:  Sept. 17, weather permitting
Revised estimated completion date: Nov. 12 (date extended), weather
permitting
Current traffic impact:  
11th Street, Tennessee to Massachusetts, intermittent lane closures and no
parking on the either side

Vermont Street, 9th Street to 11th Street, parking removed on the east side
of the street

Project:  Barker and Pawnee water line installation
90 working days on the contract, project began June 7, 86 working days
assessed and 4 working days remaining 
Original estimated completion date:  Oct. 15, weather permitting
Revised estimated completion date:  Nov. 12 (date extended)
Current traffic impact:  
Pawnee, Massachusetts to Barker, no parking on north side 

Barker Ave., E. 23rd Street to Pawnee, no parking on west side

Project:  13th and Oregon Storm water project
210 working days on the contract, project began March 9, 115 working days
assessed and 95 working days remaining
Original estimated completion date:  Feb. 2005, weather permitting
Current traffic impacts:
Pennsylvania, closed 13th Street to 14th Street

13th Street, closed at Oregon

Project: O'Connell Road street improvements
KDOT contract calendar days, completed Nov. 19
Original estimated completion date:  Nov. 19, weather permitting
Current traffic impact: 
O'Connell Road, closed, 23rd Street to 27th Terrace

O'Connell Road, local traffic only 27th Terrace to N1300 Road

Project: 2004 overlay and concrete repair program, phase 3, completed

Project: Trail Road sanitary sewer line
40 working days on the contract, work began Nov. 3
Estimated completion date: Jan. 21
Traffic impact:
Trail Road, Jane Court to Roundabout Circle, occasional lane closures 

Folks Road, north of Trail Road closed during working day beginning mid-week
to through traffic

Lawrence Transit System will follow these reroutes on Nov. 6.

Following the University of Kansas football game on Saturday, the Lawrence
Transit System may be requested to bypass the campus per police
instructions.  Typically this means the Lawrence Transit System will travel
the following reroute on Route 8:
 
INBOUND: Route 8 will continue down Iowa (instead of turning onto 23rd) to
9th Street, turn right onto 9th and return to the regular route at 9th and
Indiana.
 
OUTBOUND: Route 8 will continue down 9th Street (instead of turning onto
Indiana) to Iowa, turn left onto Iowa and return to the regular route at
23rd and Iowa.
