City infrastructure improvement projects

(LAWRENCE, KS) - Contractors will begin resurfacing Sixth St. from Arizona
St to Arkansas St. on Tuesday, June 1.  The project includes milling, curb
and gutter replacement in select locations followed by overnight operations
for an asphalt overlay.  During construction, traffic will be periodically
reduced to one lane in each direction.  Access to properties will be
maintained, however, temporary closures of drives for short periods will be
necessary.  Work should be completed by July 30, weather permitting.

Paving of Kasold is schedule for Tuesday, June 1 and Wednesday, June 2 on
both sides of Sixth St.  Traffic delays are expected on both days as
contractors close lanes for paving.

On going City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of June 1
include:

Line installation
10th St., Tennessee to New Hampshire, parking restricted on north, completed
approximately September 17, weather permitting

New Jersey, 11th St. to 14th St., parking restricted on east, completed
approximately Aug. 27, weather permitting

N. 4th St., Elm to Walnut, parking restricted, interment lane closures and
driveway closures, completed approximately June 10, weather permitting

Intersection improvements
19th St., closed Rhode Island to Delaware, eastbound traffic detoured to
15th St. and westbound traffic detoured to 23rd St., completed approximately
July 19, weather permitting 

Barker Ave., closed at 19th St., completed approximately July 19, weather
permitting

6th St., at Kasold, east and westbound one lane, completed approximately May
28, weather permitting

Kasold, north and southbound one lane, completed approximately June 3,
weather permitting

Stormwater projects
Haskell Ave., closed 11th St. to 13th St., detour on 15th St. and
Connecticut, completed approximately July 1, weather permitting

12th St, closed at Haskell Ave., completed approximately July 1, weather
permitting

Mill and overlay
6th St., Arizona St to Arkansas St., periodic reduction to one lane in each
direction, completed approximately July 30, weather permitting
