TEE TIMES TO BE TAKEN EARLIER
LAWRENCE - For the months of July and August, Lawrence Parks and Recreation
Department's Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center will open at 6:30
a.m. on the weekend days only. This includes Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
through the months of July and August.

This will allow those wanting to beat the heat to schedule tee times
beginning at 6:30 a.m. beginning Thursday, July 1. Tee time scheduling can
be done one week in advance.

To schedule tee times, please contact Eagle Bend at 748-0600 or

EAGLE BEND TO CELEBRATE 6TH YEAR OF OPERATION
LAWRENCE - Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center is going Retro!

This Saturday, July 3, Eagle Bend will celebrate its 6th anniversary. To
commemorate the occasion, prices will be rolled back to opening day pricing.


This one-day event, will allow golfers to "Play Around the Bend" at reduced
rates.  Fees on this special day will be $25 for riding and $15 for walking.


Tee times will be taken from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the anniversary day.

INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO HOST SWIM MEET
LAWRENCE - Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division will
be hosting the Roger Hill/Lawrence Aquahawk Swim Meet July 9-11 at the
Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.

The meet is expected to bring over 750 swimmers from the region and over
2,000 spectators. It is one of the largest meets held at the Indoor Aquatic
Center. Because of the large number of swimmers and spectators, the lap pool
will not be open to the public during the meet. 

However, it will be open on Friday, July 9, from 5:15 to 8 a.m. for lap
swimming. It will then close to the general public until Monday, July 12,
when it resumes it regular operating hours.

For individuals wanting to lap swim, the Lawrence Outdoor Aquatic Center,
727 Kentucky St. will be available during the Indoor Aquatic Center's
closure. The Outdoor Aquatic Center will be open Friday, July 9, from 10
a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for lap
swimming.  It will also be open over the three-day period its regular
operating hours, 1 to 8:45 p.m., for public swimming.
