Lawrence Transit System Celebrates Fourth Anniversary; "T" exceeds
productivity goal

(Lawrence, KS) - Lawrence Transit System celebrates its fourth anniversary
of the "T" fixed route bus system and T Lift paratransit service today. The
system noted it has provided 1,108,576 rides during the four years.

The anniversary celebration includes a visit from Moktee Ahmad, Regional
Administrator for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA); a cake
presentation to the Public Transit Advisory Board and MV Transportation
staff during today's Public Transit Advisory Committee meeting at 4:10pm in
the Public Transit Division Office, 933 New Hampshire.

Transit's web site also features a fourth anniversary webpage showcasing the
system's accomplishments and rider's transit stories. Rider appreciation
was celebrated in October during the third annual "Communities in Motion"
Day.

The Lawrence Transit System travels throughout the community to businesses,
educational institutions and employment areas. For assistance with trip
planning call 312-7054 or visit www.lawrencetransit.org to see a route map
and timetable.

"T" exceeds productivity goal

Ridership on the "T" fixed route system has exceeded its passengers per
revenue hour goal for the month of November.

The Lawrence Transit System projected transporting 8 passengers per revenue
hour in 2004. In November, the combined routes transported 8.23 passengers
per revenue hour. This is an improvement from 6.54 passengers per revenue
hour in November 2003. A revenue hour is when a transit vehicle is
available to the general public and there is an expectation of carrying
passengers.

"Exceeding our goal for 2004 is thrilling," said Karin Rexroad, public
transit administrator for Lawrence Transit System. Rexroad states "I'm
looking forward to see where we will be in 2005."

The November ridership report states that the "T" fixed route has expanded
by 7,188 rides, an average of 1,146 rides a day, or a 33 percent increase
compared to November 2003.
