SOUTH PARK RECREATION CENTER TO BE CLOSED FOR REMODELING
LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department South Park
Recreation Center, 1141 Massachusetts St., will be closed Monday, Dec. 20
through Sunday, Jan. 9 for remodeling.

Individuals wishing to enroll in activities offered by Parks and Recreation
may enroll at the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.; East Lawrence
Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St.; Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700
West 27th St.; Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, Prairie
Park Nature Center, 2730 Harper St.; the Administrative Offices, 947 New
Hampshire St. or online at www.lprd.org <http://www.lprd.org> .

South Park Recreation Center is scheduled to reopen on Monday, Jan. 10, at 8
a.m. For more information on Parks and Recreation facilities, contact Tim
Laurent, facilities operations supervisor, at 785-832-7920.

LAWRENCE INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER COLLECTS WINTER WEAR
LAWRENCE - Celebrate the spirit of the season by donating unused winter
apparel to the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center's "Mitten Tree."  

The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division is
collecting mittens, hats, scarves, and similar items at the Aquatic Center,
4706 Overland Dr., from now until the end of the year. 

All items will be donated to CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocate
program which is an organization that provides support and safeguards the
interest of abused and neglected children who are involved in the juvenile
court system. The CASA organization is collecting the mittens and other
winter items for local foster children and other children in need during the
cold winter months.
