MARY'S LAKE REOPENED
LAWRENCE -Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department announces the reopening
of Mary's Lake, located in Prairie Park, 2811 Kensington, to fishing after
being closed since Monday.

Parks and Recreation personnel noticed late last week several dead fish in
the lake and called in a fisheries biologist with the Kansas Department of
Wildlife and Parks, who monitor and stock the lake, to assist in finding the
cause. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment also conducted an
investigation and weren't able to determine the exact cause for the
fishkill.

Since Monday, the Parks and Recreation Department staff has been using an
aeration system, to assist in adding additional oxygen to the water.

For more information regarding Mary's Lake, please contact the Parks and
Recreation Department at 832-3458.
