HOLIDAY BAZAAR WILL FEATURE CRAFTS OF THE SEASON
LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department will host the 27th
annual Holiday Bazaar Sunday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the
Community Building, 115 West 11th St. The admission is free and the public
is invited to attend.

The Holiday Bazaar features homemade art and crafts produced by local and
regional artists on display and for sale.  There are 102 exhibitors
registered for the annual bazaar.

Sounds of the season will also fill the air with music performances by local
groups, including:

1 - 2 p.m.  	Plymouth Congressional Church Festival Bell Choir
2:30 - 3:15 p.m.	Central Junior High Honor Ensemble Choir
3:30 - 4:30 p.m.	Lawrence Free State Chamber Orchestra

Concessions will also be available featuring hot cider and cinnamon sticks.

The Holiday Bazaar was previously run by Doreta Boyd. This is the second
year the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has organized the event.

COMMUNITY BUILDING TO CLOSE FOR BAZAAR
LAWRENCE - Due to the 27th Annual Holiday Bazaar, the Lawrence Parks and
Recreation Department's Community Building, located at 115 West 11th St.,
will close Saturday, November 15, at 2:30 p.m. to allow vendors and
organizers to set up for the event.

The closing includes the gymnasium, weight room, locker rooms and
racquetball courts.  It will reopen for use Monday, Nov. 17, at 7 a.m. 

Reservations and registrations for upcoming programs can still be made
on-site in the administrative offices on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 15 and
16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Other recreation facilities will be operating on their regular schedules and
have gymnasiums, weight rooms and racquetball courts available for use. 

East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 East 15th St., will be open Saturday
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. with free play scheduled
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St., will be open Saturday from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. with free play scheduled from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Each center has a full-size gymnasium, game room, weight room and locker
room/shower facilities. Holcom Park Recreation Center also has a racquetball
court.
