City infrastructure improvement projects

(LAWRENCE, KS) - The Public Works Street Division will close E. 15th Street
between Haskell Avenue and Brook Street on Monday, November 10.  A detour
will be posted for through traffic and the project should be completed by
November, 14, weather permitting.

Crews from the Department of Utilities will begin replacing a water line on
Moundview Drive from Rockledge to Century Drive next week.  Work will occur
in the street right-of-way and restrict on street parking and may close the
intersection of Crestline Drive and Moundview Drive for few days when the
construction reaches that intersection.  The project should be completed by
February 27, weather permitting.

Curb and gutter repair will begin next week on the west side of Iowa Street.
Southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane during the day from 15th
Street to 19th Street.

On going City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of November
10 include:

Line installation
Walnut St., 600 block, closed to east and west traffic during the work day,
completed approximately November 7

4th and Louisiana Streets, railroad right-of-way, not affecting traffic,
completed approximately November 30, weather permitting

Moundview Dr., Rockledge to Century Dr., occasional lane closures, completed
approximately February 27, weather permitting

Concrete repairs
15th St. at Kasold, one lane of east bound traffic, completed approximately
November 14 (date extended), weather permitting

Iowa St.  15th St. to 19th St., southbound traffic reduced to one lane
during the day 

Intersection improvements
6th Street, intersection of Kasold Dr., reduced to one lane in each
direction, completed approximately December 31, weather permitting

Kasold Dr., north of 6th St., reduced to one lane each direction, completed
approximately December 31, weather permitting

6th Street, intersection of Comet Ln, westbound traffic reduced to one lane

Frontier Rd, Mesa Way to 6th St., opened to through traffic

6th St., intersection of Lawrence Ave., westbound traffic reduced to one
lane, completed approximately December 31, weather permitting

Road improvements
15th Street and Research Park Drive, completed

16th and Wakarusa Drive, completed

11th Street, east of Haskell Avenue closed from Haskell Avenue east to the
railroad tracks, completed approximately January 30, 2004, weather
permitting

15th St., Haskell Ave. to Brook St. closed to through traffic, completed
approximately November, 14, weather permitting

Crosswalk improvements
Massachusetts St., north of 11th Street, opening on November 7
