City infrastructure improvement projects

(LAWRENCE, KS) - Contractors are working to replace sections of the
recreational path along Clinton Parkway.  Work is underway in the 5200 block
of Clinton Parkway and repairs will move east closing one side of the path
at a time. 

During the week of November 3, contractors will rebuild the crosswalk on
Massachusetts Street north of 11th Street.  The work will close
Massachusetts Street to through traffic just north of 11th Street.  The
project should be completed by Friday, November 7, weather permitting.
Traffic control will permit u-turns in the 1000 block of Massachusetts.

On going City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of November 3
include:

Line installation
Walnut St., 600 block, closed to east and west traffic during the work day,
completed approximately November 7 (date extended)

Mill and overlay and curb repair
Emerald Drive, 19th Terr. to 21st St., completed

9th Street, Iowa to Rockledge, completed 

Rockledge, 9th St. to Yale Ave., completed 

9th St. Terr. to Yale Ave. intersection, completed

Steven Drives, Wellington Road to Lawrence Avenue, completed

21st St., Kentucky to Massachusetts St., completed

Concrete repairs
East Hills Dr., completed

Greenway Cir., completed

15th St. at Kasold, one lane of east bound traffic, completed approximately
November 7, weather permitting

Intersection improvements
6th Street, intersection of Kasold Dr., reduced to one lane in each
direction, completed approximately December 31, weather permitting

Kasold Dr., north of 6th St., reduced to one lane each direction, completed
approximately December 31, weather permitting

6th Street, intersection of Comet Ln, westbound traffic reduced to one lane

Frontier Rd, Mesa Way to 6th St., closed to through traffic, completed
approximately December 31, weather permitting

6th St., intersection of Lawrence Ave., westbound traffic reduced to one
lane, completed approximately December 31, weather permitting

Road improvements
15th Street and Research Park Drive, eastbound traffic reduced to one lane
during the day, completed approximately November 7, weather permitting

16th and Wakarusa Drive, southbound traffic reduced to one lane during the
day, completed approximately November 30, (date extended) weather permitting

11th Street, east of Haskell Avenue closed from Haskell Avenue east to the
railroad tracks, completed approximately January 30, 2004, weather
permitting

Crosswalk improvements
Massachusetts St., north of 11th Street, closed to through traffic,
completed approximately November 7, weather permitting
