LAWRENCE INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO OPEN EARLY

LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division
will open the Indoor Aquatic Center, Family Pool early on Friday, Oct. 10.

The Indoor Aquatic Center, Family Pool, located at 4706 Overland Drive, will
open at 1 p.m., providing a safe, fun environment for children that are out
of school for the day.

"We want to ensure that kids have constructive things available to them when
they are not in school," Rob Wyrick, aquatics programmer, said. "It's so
important for the community to have activities and places that children can
go to assist in developing a positive well-being when they are not in the
classroom. Through community intervention, we can assist families and
schools in educating our youth in a positive way."

The Family Pool features a zero-depth entry play area, interactive spray
features and fountains, water volleyball and basketball areas, a dolphin
slide and a new water feature - a frog slide. The Waterslide will also open
at 1 p.m.

For more information regarding the Aquatic Division, please call
785-832-7946.
