PARKS AND RECREATION INVITES SENIORS TO HAVE BREAKFAST WITH THE EXPERTS
LAWRENCE -Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Recreation Programs
Division invites senior citizens to participate in Breakfast with the
Experts, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Tom Wilkerson
Room at the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive.  The program
discussion this month is "Planning Your Own Funeral." The program is free
and open to the public, but participants are asked to pre-register.

Staff from Lawrence Funeral Chapel, Inc. will discuss all aspects of funeral
planning. From selecting a casket to organizing a funeral service, they will
inform those in attendance of the benefits of planning ahead.

"It's a topic that too many people avoid," Jo Ellis, recreation program
supervisor, said. "Planning ahead can make all the difference in the world
for those we leave behind. Planning ahead allows us to let others know how
we want to be remembered and allows others to naturally grieve without the
added stress of planning a funeral."

Breakfast with the Experts takes place the second Wednesday of every month.
Participants will enjoy free Danish and coffee, as well conversation with
experts on a number of topics. Topics for future dates include:


Nov. 12 - Parks Around Lawrence with discussion by Fred DeVictor, director
of Lawrence Parks
                  and Recreation
	December 10 - History of Lawrence with discussion by Katie Armitage,
local historian
