Two planners joining city staff

(Lawrence, Kansas) - The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Department is
filling two vacant staff positions. On Tuesday, Sept.23, Jeffrey Tully
began work as a current planner and on Monday, Sept. 29, Lynne Zollner will
assume the duties of the historic resources administrator and planner.

"Our community will benefit from these additions to the planning staff.
Both Lynne and Jeff bring the education and professional experience in both
historic resources and land use planning that are called upon on a daily
basis when implementing the city's development codes. I am pleased to have
them joining the city," comments Linda Finger, planning director.

Tully most recently worked for the City and County of San Francisco as a
planner. His professional experience includes stints at the Galveston
Historical Foundation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He
also spent four years with the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area
Planning Department. Tully is a member of the American Planning Association
and American Institute of Certified Planners and has a BA in Journalism and
a master's in American history from Wichita State University.

Zollner has experience in preservation planning on a local and statewide
basis as well as land use planning. She has been active with preservation
through service on the board of directors of the Historic Preservation
Alliance of Arkansas and Greene County Courthouse Preservation Society.
Lynne comes from Marmaduke, Arkansas where she was an independent
preservation consultant working with clients on nominations for National
Register of Historic Places, historic preservation tax credits and historic
resources analysis, documentation and inventories. She previously served as
planning and zoning administrator for the Capital Zoning District Commission
in Little Rock, Ar. and has assisted local governments with preservation
planning while working for more than four years for the Department of
Arkansas Heritage.

Zollner is a graduate of Louisiana State University with a bachelor's of
arts in history and a minor in political science and received a master's of
historic preservation from the University of Georgia.

Both Zollner and Tully will work in the fields of current and long-range
planning. They will provide information and assistance to developers, the
business community and the public.

The planner and historic resources administrator positions became vacant
earlier this year when the current planner relocated out of state and the
historic resources administrator accepted a position in the metropolitan
area.
