Cryptosporidium not detected in water

(Lawrence, KS) - The City of Lawrence Utilities Department received test
results on samples taken last week from both water treatment facilities.
The results did not detect any level of cryptosporidium in the samples.

Samples of both raw water and finished water were taken from both the Kaw
Water Treatment Plant and the Clinton Reservoir Treatment Plant. Tests on
all four samples determined that cryptosporidium was not detected.

"These results confirm that the state regulations are structured to protect
our water and we are confident that the City of Lawrence complies with those
regulations," explained Chris Stewart, assistant director, water with the
City of Lawrence Department of Utilities.

Analytical Services, Inc. of Williston, Vermont, an approved laboratory by
the Environmental Protection Agency to perform this test, completed testing.
