FALL HOURS FOR AQUATIC FACILITIES ANNOUNCED
LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Aquatic Division
announces the hours of operation for aquatic facilities will change for the
fall season.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 2, the hours of operation at the Indoor Aquatic
Center, 4706 Overland Drive, the Outdoor Aquatic Center 727 Kentucky St.,
and the Carl Knox Natatorium, 1901 Louisiana St., will change.
Hours will be as follows:
Indoor Aquatic Center
Lap Swimming
Monday through Friday - 5:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Saturday - 9:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.
Sunday - 1 to 5:45 p.m.
Waterslide and Diving Area
Monday - Friday - 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday - 1 to 7:30 p.m.
Sunday - 1 to 5:30 p.m.
Warm Water Lap Swim will take place daily, Monday through Friday, from 12 to
2 p.m.
Zero Depth and Children's Area
Monday - Friday (except Wednesday) - 3:30 to 7:45 p.m.
Wednesday - 2:30 to 7:45 p.m.
Saturday - 1 to 7:45 p.m.
Sunday - 1 to 5:45 p.m.
Carl Knox Natatorium
Lap Swimming
Monday - Thursday - 6:15 to 8:30 p.m.
Friday -Sunday - Closed
Outdoor Aquatic Center
Closed for the season.
The Carl Knox Natatorium will be closed to the public until Friday, Sept. 8,
at which time it will reopen with the fall hours listed above.

FALL ARTS AND CRAFTS FESTIVAL EXHIBITORS STILL BEING ACCEPTED
LAWRENCE -The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Special Events
Division still has openings for exhibitors at the 24th Annual Fall Arts and
Crafts Festival being held Sunday, Sept. 14, at South Park, 1141
Massachusetts St., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The fee to be an exhibitor is $35 for a 10'x10' outdoor space. Exhibitors
will be responsible for providing display units. There will be table and
fence panels available for rent on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Electricity hookups are also available for an additional $15. Exhibitor
entry deadline is Friday, Sept. 12.
Exhibitors will be allowed to set up starting at 8 a.m. the day of the
festival. Items made from commercial kits or items of a commercial nature
will not be accepted. Also no commercial jewelry vendors will be accepted.

PARKS AND RECREATION INVITES SENIORS TO HAVE BREAKFAST WITH THE EXPERTS
LAWRENCE -Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department's Recreation Programs
Division invites senior citizens 50 years old and older to participate in
Breakfast with the Experts, a new program this fall. The program is free and
open to the public.
Breakfast with the Experts will take place the second Wednesday of every
month from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Indoor Aquatic Center, Tom Wilkerson Room.
Participants will enjoy free Danish pastries and coffee, as well
conversation with experts on a number of topics.
The following is a schedule of topics and guests who will participate in
this falls program:
Sept. 9 - Container Gardening with discussion by the Earl May
staff
Oct. 8 - Planning Your Own Funeral with discussion by Lawrence
Funeral Chapel, Inc. staff
Nov. 12 - Parks Around Lawrence with discussion by Fred DeVictor, director
of Lawrence Parks
and Recreation
December 10 - History of Lawrence with discussion by Katie Armitage,
local historian
Space is limited. Participants are asked to pre-register. For more
information or to register for the program, please contact South Park
Center, 1141 Massachusetts St, at 832-7930.
Participants are also invited to stay and swim at the Indoor Aquatic Center
because Wednesdays are senior swim day when senior citizens swim for free.
