Vermont Street temporarily closed on Thursday afternoon; Transit system uses
reroutes

(LAWRENCE, KS) - A temporary use of right of way permit has been issued for
Thursday, August 28 from noon to 3p.m. for the 700 block of Vermont Street.

Work on the SBC communications tower requires the use of a large crane and
will block Vermont Street to through traffic between 7th and 8th Streets.
The Vermont Street entrance to the parking lot south of the library will
also be blocked.

The temporary closure of Vermont Street will cause a reroute for Route 3 and
Route 4 of the Lawrence Transit System. While Vermont Street is blocked to
through traffic, inbound Route 3 will use Tennessee Street from 6th Street
to 9th Street. Route 4 inbound will use New Hampshire Street from 6th
Street to 8th Street to avoid the street closure.

The reroutes will be in place for the afternoon closing of Vermont Street.
For more information on the reroute or for assistance with trip planning,
call (785) 312-7054 or visit www.lawrencetransit.org to see a route map and
timetable. Transit drivers can provide detailed information about the
re-route to riders.
