INDOOR AQUATIC CENTER TO CLOSE FOR MAINTENANCE
LAWRENCE - The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department announces the
closing of the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive, from Aug. 16 to
29 for annual maintenance.
 
General maintenance to be conducted during shutdown includes rebuilding
pumps and motors, heating and ventilation work, installing new features,
repainting pools, major cleaning of tiles, carpet and concrete and
repainting the interior of the building.
 
Along with the closing, the Carl Knox Natatorium, 1901 Louisiana St., will
be closed to the public throughout August for cleaning of the pool basin and
cleaning and sealing floors preparing it for school district use on Aug. 13.
It will reopen to the public Monday, Sept. 8.
 
 
The Outdoor Aquatic Center, 727 Kentucky St., will be available for swimming
in the interim. However, the hours of operation will change starting
Wednesday, Aug. 13. The hours of operation will be 4 to 9 p.m. on weekdays
(except on Monday, Sept. 1, Labor Day when it will be open 1 to 9 p.m.) and
from 1 to 9 p.m. on weekends. The Outdoor Aquatic Center will close for the
season on Monday, Sept. 1, at 9 p.m.
