Lawrence Transit System uses re-route while 21st Street is closed
(LAWRENCE, KS) - The temporary closure of 21st Street will cause a re-route
for Route 7 of the Lawrence Transit System. Twenty-first Street is closed
from Massachusetts to Barker and Massachusetts to Kentucky as work
progresses on the storm water project along 21st Street.
Route 7 inbound will use 20th Street to get to Kentucky then continue on the
regular route. Individuals needing to board the bus along Route 7 should
move from 21st Street to 20th Street between Louisiana and Kentucky.
The re-route will be in place until approximately August 15, weather
permitting. For more information on the re-route or for assistance is trip
planning, call (785) 312-7054 or visit www.lawrencetransit.org to see a
route map and timetables. Transit drivers can also provide detailed
information about the re-route to riders.
Transit passengers should also follow precautions when using the system in
the construction areas. Along the fixed route system, the bus will stop to
allow passengers to board or exit at most points along the route. There are
guidelines to follow when flagging or exiting a bus to ensure the safety of
riders and traffic. In situations of evacuations, street closings,
obstructions, rough and slippery pavement or other conditions that may be
hazard to passengers, buses will stop clear of the hazard. Buses also stop
on the near side of intersections to avoid creating a delay in traffic that
could block an intersection.
