T provides free rides to shoppers next Thursday

(LAWRENCE, KS) - To ease your travel to the annual Downtown Sidewalk Sale on
Thursday, July 17, the Lawrence Transit System will provide free rides. By
riding the T on Thursday, people will experience two of the benefits of the
public transportation, avoiding traffic and no parking concerns.

"Downtown will be a great place to be on Thursday and the T can get you
there without thinking about traffic or parking, "comments Karin Rexroad,
Transit Administrator for Lawrence Transit System. "And there is no better
time to take your first ride than when it is free. There's not a better
value."

Transit routes touch every area of the community, and with a short walk,
most people can make it from their neighborhood to downtown using the T.
Dependability of the public transit is an additional benefit of public
transportation. Once people try the T, they find that times when they are
in need of transportation, they can turn to the T.

First time riders will find that transit drivers are a good resource for
information. Drivers can help with transfers and explanation of timing
points. For assistance with trip planning call 312-7054 and visit
www.lawrencetransit.org to see a route map and time table.

Free rides on Thursday, July 17, will not be limited to riders taking the T
downtown. The fare on all eight fixed routes including the seven routes
that go to the downtown hub will be waived.
