City infrastructure improvement projects/T reroutes around 11th Street
(LAWRENCE, KS) - Crews from the City of Lawrence Public Works Department
Street Division will be repairing curbs along 11th Street from West Campus
Road to Maine Street. As part of the repairs, crews will also place asphalt
in the same area. Traffic will be restricted to westbound traffic only
along 11th Street. Eastbound traffic will be detoured to Emery Road and 9th
Street around the project. Work should be completed by July 17, weather
permitting.
Route 8 eastbound on the Lawrence Transit System will travel on Jayhawk
Boulevard during the closure of the eastbound 11th Street from West Campus
Road to Maine Street. Eleventh Street should reopen to two lanes of traffic
on Thursday and Route 8 will return to using 11th Street as detour until the
line installation on Jayhawk Boulevard is complete. Route 8 westbound will
continue to use 11th Street during the project.
Traffic control on Jayhawk Boulevard will be moving to sequence 3 next week.
Only eastbound traffic will be permitted on Jayhawk Boulevard from Sunflower
Road to Naismith Drive. Westbound motorist using Jayhawk Boulevard will be
detoured onto Sunflower Road then west onto Sunnyside Avenue and north onto
Naismith Drive.

Storm sewer improvements
21st St., closed, Massachusetts St. to Barker, completed approximately
August 15, weather permitting
Vermont, closed from 20th St. to 22nd St.
Rhode Island, 20th St. to 22nd St., closed to through traffic, completed
approximately July 18, weather permitting
27th St., Belle Haven to Louisiana, closed until early August, weather
permitting
Road improvements
31st St., west of Iowa St., lanes open
North Michigan, no through traffic north of the Woodcreek Town homes
entrance to Riverridge Road, completed approximately summer of 2003, weather
permitting
Wakarusa Dr., north of 6th St. open to through traffic
Line installation
Jayhawk Blvd., West Campus Rd. to Sunflower Rd., one-way eastbound
Nebraska St., Vermont to Kansas St., parking restricted, completed by August
15, weather permitting
7th St., New Hampshire to New York, lanes narrowed, completed approximately
July 18 (date extended), weather permitting
New Hampshire, 600 block, lane restrictions, completed by July 15, weather
permitting
Curb repair
11th St., West Campus Rd. to Maine St., west bound traffic only, east bound
traffic should use Emery Rd. to 9th St., completed July 17, weather
permitting
Mill and overlay and curb repair
15th St., Iowa to Crestline Dr., open to through traffic
Camelback Dr., Tam O'Shanter to Quailcreek Dr., lane restrictions, completed
approximately July 18, weather permitting
Camelback Pl., Camelback Dr. to cul-de-sac, lane restrictions, completed
approximately July 18, weather permitting
Doral Ct., Camelback Dr. to cul-de-sac, lane restrictions, completed
approximately July 18, weather permitting
Kasold Dr., Clinton Pkwy to 26th St., lane restrictions, completed
