City infrastructure improvement projects

(LAWRENCE, KS) - As construction continues in the area of 31st and Iowa
Streets, drivers are reminded to take notice of traffic control devices in
construction area.  Through traffic has been maintained however, changes to
traffic control have occurred.  The shift of traffic to the north side of
31st St. from Iowa St. to Ousdahl Rd. has created a new traffic pattern at
the intersection of 31st and Iowa Streets. 

No new projects are scheduled to begin the week of Dec. 30.

On going City infrastructure improvement projects for the week of December
30 include:

Storm sewer improvements
21st St., closed, Stewart Ave to east of Naismith, completed approximately
May 2003, weather permitting

19th Terr., 20th St. and 20th Terr., open to local traffic, periodical
closure during workday

Ousdahl, 19th St to 21st St, closed to through traffic

Water line installation
Intersection of 9th and Iowa, traffic interruptions, completed approximately
Dec. 31, weather permitting

Road improvements
31st St., Ousdahl Rd. to Iowa St., traffic reduced to one lane each
direction

Ousdahl Rd, 31st St. to 33rd St., open to traffic

North Michigan, no through traffic north of the Woodcreek Town homes
entrance to Riverridge Road, completed approximately summer of 2003, weather
permitting

Street Repair
Ohio St., 1000 block, local traffic only and on-street parking restricted,
completed approximately January 10, weather permitting

Sidewalk Repair
Tennessee, 1400 block east side, work no longer affecting traffic
