Public invited to discuss Folks Road improvement options
(Lawrence, Ks) - The City of Lawrence Public Works Department will hold a
public meeting to continue discussion of development options for the
improvement of Folks Road from 6th St. south to Mulberry Dr. and Harvard Rd.
On Thursday, January 9, at 6:30 p.m. staff from the Public Works Department
will make a brief presentation of two options and then answer questions and
receive comments. The meeting will be held in the multi-purpose room of the
Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Dr., north of Free State High
School.
The January public meeting is a follow up to an October public meeting that
gathered initial input. Staff has been working to design a solution that
meets the needs of the neighborhood while remaining affordable. Staff and
citizens have been working to address the right-of-way and acquisition
needs, street design including width, sidewalks and bike lanes and the
intersection at Harvard Rd.
Individuals that cannot attend the January 9 meeting, may view the options
on either Friday, January 10 or Monday, January 13 in the Public Works
Department on the ground floor of City Hall, 6 East Sixth St. If using this
option, written comments should be received Tuesday, January 14 by Chuck
Soules, director of Public Works, PO Box 708, Lawrence, KS 66044 or send an
e-mail to csoules@ci.lawrence.ks.us.
For more information, please contact Chuck Soules at 832-3123.
