City holiday schedule announced

(LAWRENCE, KANSAS) -- City offices will be closed Wednesday, December 25 and
Wednesday, January 1, in observance of the holidays.  The Lawrence Transit
System and the T Lift will not operate those two days.

Residential trash pickup will be one day later those weeks.  Commercial
collection scheduled for Wednesday on those two weeks will be collected on
Thursday.

To report a water or sewer emergency after business hours or during weekends
and holidays, contact the Utilities Department at (785) 843-2685.

Hours of operation at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, the Carl Knox
Natatorium, the four City recreation centers and nature center will be
adjusted.  

Carl Knox Natatorium will be closed Dec. 21, 2002 to Jan. 5, 2003.

The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center will extend leisure pool hours during the
USD#497 winter break.  From Dec. 26 to Jan. 3, the leisure pool will be
opening at 1pm to offer a winter break activity.

Following is the holiday schedule for Parks and Recreation facilities:

Tuesday, Dec. 24
South Park Recreation Center, closed
East Lawrence Recreation Center, walking 8 to 10am, free play 10am to 5pm
and program enrollment 8am to 5pm
Community Building, walking 8 to 10am, free play 10am to 5pm, and program
enrollment 8am to 5pm
Holcom Park Recreation Center, walking 8 to 11am, free play 11am to 5pm and
program enrollment 8am to 5pm
Eagle Bend Golf Course, public shotgun start at 9am
Prairie Park Nature Center, 9am to 3pm
Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, lap swimming 5:15am to 5pm and leisure pool
1 to 5pm

Wednesday, Dec. 25 
South Park Recreation Center, East Lawrence Recreation Center, Community
Building and Holcom Park Recreation Center, closed
Eagle Bend Golf Course, closed
Prairie Park Nature Center, closed
Cemetery Office and burial availability, closed

Thursday, Dec. 26

Prairie Park Nature Center, regular hours
Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, lap swimming, delayed opening 10am to 8:45pm
and leisure pool 1pm to 8:45pm
