City offices to close November 28 and 29 for Thanksgiving;  recreation
centers schedules altered

(Lawrence, Kansas) -- City offices will be closed Thursday, November 28
and Friday, November 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thursday, November 28, residential solid waste collection will be moved
to Friday, 
November 29.  Friday and Saturday commercial collection will be
completed as normal.

Lawrence Transit System and the T Lift will not run on Thursday,
November 28 and will return to regular schedules on Friday, November 29.

Parking at meters in downtown Lawrence will be free on Thursday but
Friday and Saturday shoppers will need to pay to park during regular
hours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To report a waterline break on a holiday or weekend, call 843-2685.

All City recreation centers will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday,
November 27 and adult basketball and volleyball games scheduled the same
day will be postponed.  Carl Knox Natatorium will be closed Wednesday,
November 27.  The Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center will close at 5 p.m. on
Wednesday, November 27.

Parks and Recreation facilities including the Community Building, East
Lawrence Recreation Center, Holcom Park Recreation Center, South Park
Recreation Center, Prairie Park Nature Center, the Lawrence Indoor
Aquatic Center and Carl Knox Natatorium will be closed Thursday,
November 28.  

Eagle Bend Golf Course is offering a 9 a.m. public shotgun start on
Thursday, November 28.

No Parks and Recreation classes are scheduled the week of November 25.
Adult sports leagues are cancelled Wednesday, November. 27 through
Sunday December 1.

Following is a day-after Thanksgiving schedule for Parks and Recreation
facilities:

Friday, November 29
Free play only at three recreation centers (no class or program
enrollment)
 	Holcom Park Recreation Center, 12 noon to 6 p.m.
East Lawrence Recreation Center, 12 noon to 6 p.m.
Community Building, 12 noon to 6 p.m.
Prairie Park Nature Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Eagle Bend Golf Course, accepting tee times
Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center
lap swimming, 5:15 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
family pool, 1 to 8:45 p.m.
Carl Knox Natatorium, 
	lap swimming, 6:15 to 8:30p.m.
South Park Recreation Center closed
